Brand Info Shortly after leaving the family company in 1980, Geoff Hardy established Pertaringa, which has since continued to produce some of McLaren Vale's finest wines. The name Pertaringa means 'belonging to the hills' and originates from the local Kaurna indigenous language.

Story No second fiddle, the Understudy is a stylistic contrast to our Rifle & Hunt Cabernet.

Vintage Early winter in 2014 was wetter than usual and the period from August to early January was very dry with above average temperatures. Following some rain and milder temperatures in January, the 2015 harvest started later that month and was quite condensed, resulting in some fabulous white and red wines.

Nose Vibrant aromas of black cherries, blackcurrants, tomato leaves and capsicum are complemented by spicy notes of cinnamon, ginger and pepper.

Palate The palate is well-balanced with blackberries, blackcurrant, coffee and cocoa, followed by notes of cedar and firm tannins.

Food Pairings Try with a marinated lamb and chargrilled vegetable pizza with goat cheese and rosemary.
