Brand Info Shortly after leaving the family company in 1980, Geoff Hardy established Pertaringa, which has since continued to produce some of McLaren Vale's finest wines. The name Pertaringa means 'belonging to the hills' and originates from the local Kaurna indigenous language.

Story This wine is called Stage Left Merlot as the variety has never been centre stage in the vineyard theatre of McLaren Vale. We think that it should be enjoyed for its unique interpretation of this beloved Bordeaux variety.

Vintage Early winter in 2014 was wetter than usual and the period from August to early January was very dry with above average temperatures. Following some rain and milder temperatures in January, the 2015 harvest started later that month and was quite condensed, resulting in some fabulous white and red wines.

Nose The nose offers soft aromas of black cherries, plums and blueberries.

Palate The palate is medium-bodied and lively with notes of cassis, red berries and eucalypt.

Food Pairings Try with chargrilled kangaroo with charred beetroot, sweet potato mash and lavender and sage butter.
