Brand Info Shortly after leaving the family company in 1980, Geoff Hardy established Pertaringa, which has since continued to produce some of McLaren Vale's finest wines. The name Pertaringa means 'belonging to the hills' and originates from the local Kaurna indigenous language.

Story  Family owned and operated, Pertaringa has branched out from its McLaren Vale roots to explore the uniqueness and diversity of South Australia’s iconic wine growing regions. Cabernet Sauvignon is planted in almost every region of Australia so we decided to look in our own back yard and produce a cool climate style from the Adelaide Hills as well as a warmer climate version from McLaren Vale.

Vintage The 2016 vintage was in general very mild with low rainfall. The lack of rain looked like it would result in a quick harvest, but a big downpour in early February made sure the vintage was more evenly spread out. The yields were up on the couple of previous years and the quality is looking great.

Nose The nose offers aromas of chocolate spearmint, cassis and mulberries.

Palate The palate is smooth and velvety with notes of mint and cassis mirroring the nose.

Food Pairings Try this wine with cherry-glazed lamb racks.
