Lakeside Red Meritage 2017

Lakeside Red Meritage 2017

Brand Info Shortly after leaving the family company in 1980, Geoff Hardy established Pertaringa, which has since continued to produce some of McLaren Vale's finest wines. The name Pertaringa means 'belonging to the hills' and originates from the local Kaurna indigenous language.

One of the most classic wine combinations of all time, this Red Meritage is inspired by the Old World and features the perfect blend of Petit Verdot, Malbec and Merlot.

Vintage Spring and summer were cooler than normal with above average rainfall and the 2017 vintage happened much later than usual. The combination of those factors and dry weather for most of the harvest resulted in higher yields and excellent quality across regions.

Nose The nose offers lively, plummy aromas with hints of ripe cherries and dried herbs, all melded together in this attractive bouquet.

Palate The well-structured palate displays bright, appealing flavours of plums and dark berries with a beautifully balanced finish.

Food Pairings In true European style, it's a particularly food-friendly wine - try it with a spinach, caramelised garlic and red pepper pithivier!
