Brand Info In 1986, Geoff Hardy finally found the ideal location for producing cool climate award-winning wines in the Adelaide Hills. This vineyard later became known as the K1 by Geoff Hardy vineyard since this unique site was the first commercial planting of vines in the Kuitpo region.

Story One of the more intriguing wines created in biblical times was the ‘Tzimmukin’, using slightly dried grapes to increase strength and longevity. At K1 we have captured the essence of this ancient technique by slowly air drying our best parcels of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon in baskets to produce a quintessential Australian blend.

Vintage The 2016 vintage was in general very mild with low rainfall. The lack of rain looked like it would result in a quick harvest, but a big downpour in early February made sure the vintage was more evenly spread out. The yields were up on the couple of previous years and the quality is looking great.

Nose The nose offers complex raisiny / porty aromas from the basket dried grapes.

Palate Masses of jammy / raisiny flavours explode on the palate of this round and rich wine, which finishes big and tight.

Food Pairings Be daring and try this wine with an exotic African kudu fillet with a creamy mushroom sauce.
