Brand Info In 1986, Geoff Hardy finally found the ideal location for producing cool climate award-winning wines in the Adelaide Hills. This vineyard later became known as the K1 by Geoff Hardy vineyard since this unique site was the first commercial planting of vines in the Kuitpo region.

Story  The K1 Shiraz reflects the generosity of the 'terroir' of the front hill of the K1 vineyard. This Shiraz planted alongside the avenue of English Plain trees is more intense than the Middle Hill Shiraz, with more acidity and tannins allowing it to cellar over at least a decade.

Vintage The 2016 vintage was in general very mild with low rainfall. The lack of rain looked like it would result in a quick harvest, but a big downpour in early February made sure the vintage was more evenly spread out. The yields were up on the couple of previous years and the quality looks great.

Nose The K1 Shiraz 2016 exhibits complex aromas of plums, raspberries and candied orange with spicy notes of white pepper and cloves.

Palate Notes of plums, raspberries and dried apricots are complemented by white pepper spice on the elegant palate, which is well balanced with a mix of quality French and American oak and silken tannins.

Food Pairings The K1 Shiraz is always perfect with a hearty beef bourguignon.
