Story: The K1 Sauvignon Blanc vines are in a sandy loam area of the K1 by Geoff Hardy vineyard, situated in the southern Adelaide Hills. The vines are trained to a single cordon and spur pruned to a low bud number to increase fruit quality.
Vintage: The 2020 growing season started with mild weather and below average rainfall. Some late spring rain provided a bit of relief from the dry conditions. A heatwave in January was luckily too early in the ripening cycle to cause any damage to the fruit. This was followed by a very mild and dry finish to the vintage, allowing good hang time and flavour development to the smaller than average crop.
Nose: The nose is vibrant with aromas of passionfruit, citrus and just a hint of fresh herbs.
Palate: The palate is very refreshing, nice and lean, with a trace of snow peas accompanying the gooseberries and passionfruit, leading to a crisp, lingering finish.
Food Pairings: Ending on a drier note, this wine is an ideal partner to seafood and less spicy Asian dishes.
