Story: Gruner Veltliner has found a new home in the cool southern Adelaide Hills where it produces white wines that capture both the old-world essence of Austria and the modern vibrancy and clarity of Australia.
Vintage: 2021 will be one for the record books in more than one way but as far as vineyards across South Australia are concerned it was near perfect. Higher than average rainfall over winter allowed vines to produce good canopy and the cool – dry summer gave us beautiful even ripening conditions. This slow ripening allows great flavour development and retention of natural acidity.
Nose: The nose displays the varietal savoriness akin to in season root vegetables (think parsnip, swede, turnip) elegant aromas of ripe melon, tropical fruit and a twist of citrus.
Palate: The palate offers a beautifully rich mouthful of pleasing flavours with a refreshing, crisp and cleansing finish. 15%-barrel ferment with partial malolactic fermentation adds weight and texture
Food Pairings: Try with Eggplant and Prosciutto Involtini with Buffalo mozzarella and basil.
Cellaring: Drink now or cellar for medium term to 2030
