Brand Info Shortly after leaving the family company in 1980, Geoff Hardy established Pertaringa, which has since continued to produce some of McLaren Vale's finest wines. The name Pertaringa means 'belonging to the hills' and originates from the local Kaurna indigenous language.

Story  No second fiddle, the Understudy is a stylistic contrast to our Rifle & Hunt Cabernet.

Vintage The 2018 growing season started slowly, but warmer weather eventually helped to speed things up. Fruit set throughout the region was good and the low rainfall and warm weather from January to April resulted in great sugar development, while a cooler than average March offered ideal night temperatures for colour and flavour development.

Nose The nose offers subtle aromas of plums and dried herbs with a hint of spice in the background.

Palate The palate is tasty and rich with plums and spice, complemented by elegant, smooth tannins and a tight, lingering finish.

Food Pairings Try with a marinated lamb and chargrilled vegetable pizza with goat cheese and rosemary.
