Brand Info Shortly after leaving the family company in 1980, Geoff Hardy established Pertaringa, which has since continued to produce some of McLaren Vale's finest wines. The name Pertaringa means 'belonging to the hills' and originates from the local Kaurna indigenous language.

Story

Vintage The 2016 vintage was in general very mild with low rainfall. The lack of rain looked like it would result in a quick harvest, but a big downpour in early February made sure the vintage was more evenly spread out. The yields were up on the couple of previous years and the quality is looking great.

Nose The nose offers beautifully soft aromas of plums, mint and spice.

Palate The palate is succulent and rounded with darker fruits, chocolate and spice, followed by fine-grained tannins.

Food Pairings Try with chargrilled kangaroo with charred beetroot, sweet potato mash and lavender and sage butter.
