Brand Info Shortly after leaving the family company in 1980, Geoff Hardy established Pertaringa, which has since continued to produce some of McLaren Vale's finest wines. The name Pertaringa means 'belonging to the hills' and originates from the local Kaurna indigenous language.

Story The Tipsy Hill Cabernet Sauvignon is from Bec Hardy's vineyard in the Blewitt Springs sub-region of McLaren Vale. The ancient soils and elevation of the Tipsy Hill vineyard offer the perfect conditions for growing high quality Cabernet Sauvignon. The property also includes a stunning garden, featuring the rare Tipsy Hill Imperial Concubine rose, from which the name originates.

Vintage The 2016 vintage was in general very mild with low rainfall. The lack of rain looked like it would result in a quick harvest, but a big downpour in early February made sure the vintage was more evenly spread out. The yields were up on the couple of previous years and the quality looks great.

Nose The nose offers classic Cabernet aromatics of cassis, crushed violets, cedar shavings and tobacco.

Palate The palate is medium-bodied with notes of blueberries and mocha, followed by ultra-fine, powdery tannins on the impressive and sustained palate.

Food Pairings Try this wine with venison medallions with a parsnip puree and roasted baby beetroots.
