Brand Info Shortly after leaving the family company in 1980, Geoff Hardy established Pertaringa, which has since continued to produce some of McLaren Vale's finest wines. The name Pertaringa means 'belonging to the hills' and originates from the local Kaurna indigenous language.

Story The Rampart started off like any other regular wine, but when arriving at Pertaringa's stronghold in McLaren Vale it gained strength and persistence through fortification. This 2015 Vintage Fortified is made from Shiraz and Grenache from McLaren Vale.

Vintage Early winter in 2014 was wetter than usual and the period from August to early January was very dry with above average temperatures. Following some rain and milder temperatures in January, the 2015 harvest started later that month and was quite condensed, resulting in some fabulous white and red wines.

Nose The nose offers complex aromas of raspberries, plums, Christmas pudding and an inviting brandy lift.

Palate The palate is sweet and luscious with notes of red berries, mulberries and a delectable blackforest cake chocolate finish.

Food Pairings Try this fortified with a flourless chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and cherry compote.
